St. Jude Helping Hand Foundation was started in March 2004 to provide food and water for the homeless.  Every Sunday, volunteers get up early every Sunday and  prepare a different Sunday afternoon meal for the homeless.  They then drive to downtown Tampa between 1:00 and 4:00 and serve food and water to between 50 to 70 men and women.  The foundation needs donations of food, water, toiletries, clothing, blankets, etc.

The Homeless Coalition of Hillsborough County brings together various businesses, service providers, faith-based organizations, agencies and individuals to maintain current services and expand our community’s capacity to help our homeless neighbors.  Our role is to establish and maintain a continuum of services through strategic efforts and community-wide planning.

Francis House is an interfaith center designed to respond with compassion and justice to the spiritual, emotional, educational and physical well being of individuals and families infected, affected or at risk for HIV/AIDS.  Francis House is dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi whose love for all people as sisters and brothers inspires staff and volunteers.  A day respite center for people infected or affected by HIV / AIDS, Francis House is the only respite program of its kind in the tri-city area of Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater.

Metro Wellness & Community Center has a variety of programs to serve people living with HIV and AIDS. Case management under Florida Medicaid’s “Project AIDS Care” program involves the coordination of a wide range of supportive services that will allow a person to remain safely in their home instead of being institutionalized. Clients in this program also receive full Medicaid benefits covering such services as medical care, medications, hospitalization, basic dental services, etc. The case manager can help the client with receiving benefits (Medicaid, SSI, DDS, food stamps, etc.) and access funds and services available through the Ryan White CARE Act and other sources.
